Annual Event
| Connecting
donors to the priorities they care about, the needs of the
community, increasing charitable giving, and responding to
critical community issues .
|
| A community foundation is a tax-exempt,
nonprofit, autonomous, publicly supported, nonsectarian
philanthropic institution with a long term goal of building
permanent, named component funds established by many
separate donors to carry out their charitable interests and
for the broad-based charitable interest of and for the
benefit of residents of a defined geographic area, typically
no larger than a state.
There
are over 700 community foundations (“CF”) in the United
States with 10 in Missouri and 25 in Kansas, now there is
one to serve the regional area of Northwest Missouri. Why
does this matter? Community Foundations have a proven track
record of increasing charitable giving to local
not-for-profits. This potentially improves the quality of
life in our region. The presence of a CF will give donors
who care deeply and personally about their communities, the
opportunity to leave a legacy which will last forever and
will ensure that more of the money earned here can remain
here. |
