2022 Annual Event
Keynote Speaker, Chris Chinn, Missouri Director of Agriculture
Chinn is a fifth generation Missouri farmer from Clarence and was named Director of the Missouri Department of Agriculture in January 2017. Director Chinn has held leadership positions in agriculture on the local, state, and national level for more than 17 years, working to move the state’s agriculture industry forward.
As the Director of Agriculture, Chinn created the MORE Strategic Initiative to protect and promote Missouri’s agriculture industry. The four pillars of the initiative are Grow MORE, Reach MORE, Connect MORE and Empower MORE, tying into the needs of farmers and consumers in our state. The MORE vision focuses on the symbiotic relationship between farmers and the communities in which they live. Working closely with Governor Parson and fellow cabinet members, they have advanced the Governor’s workforce development and infrastructure priorities. These priorities help expand job opportunities in agriculture and repair roadways, bridges, and buildings.
Chinn will speak about agriculture’s role in community development and her work with the Department of Economic Development.

Regional Learning Collaborative: 101 Framework Foundations Program
Learn The Maximize [My Community] Journey Framework through the Story of Monarch Town
This is the foundational program of the Maximize NWMO regional vitality initiative launched through The Community Foundation of Northwest Missouri. Participants will work collaboratively on updating the region’s profile and strategic action plans as an example and guide through what you can do in your organizations, communities, and counties. This is an introduction to the foundational framework covering systems (big picture) leadership, distributed and informed decision-making, agile strategic action mapping, and collaborACTION-focused communications.
By participating in this engaging and interactive program, you will:
GAIN a basic familiarity with the framework and its promising practices.
LEARN what is needed for decision-making that supports a vibrant and growing community.
IDENTIFY who should be invited to ensure your whole community is represented.
DISCOVER and CREATE a sense of urgency around the challenges and opportunities of your community as you maximize its potential!

May 4 – June 15, 2022 | 6 Zoom sessions | Every Wednesday morning from 8:30-10:00 a.m. (except June 1) (Registration Deadline is April 20th(External link))
WHERE
A link for the Zoom sessions will be shared with you prior to the beginning of each session. The in-person 1-Day retreat location will be confirmed in February and may be based on where a majority of participants are located.

2021 Leadership Breakfast
"Leadership and the Future
of Northwest Missouri"
Keynote Speaker, Marshall Stewart....Vice Chancellor for Extension and Engagement, University of Missouri and Chief Engagement Officer, UM System. Stewart’s roles involve partnership development and stakeholder relations with local, state, and federal policymakers; MU Extension County, regional and state advisory groups; and partners and collaborators in the community, corporate, government and non-profit sectors.
Dr. Stewart is uniquely qualified to address the challenges and accomplishments in the recent past across Missouri. He restructured MU Extension and engagement work around Missourians’ grand challenges related to economic opportunity, educational access and excellence, and health and well-being. This aligns closely with The Community Foundation’s ongoing Regional Vitality initiative and its product, Maximize NWMO. We will hear how the two initiatives dovetail and are partnering to enhance NWMO.

Keynote Speaker: Dell Gines
Senior Community Development Advisor for the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City – Omaha Office.
Mr. Gines, is a nationally recognized speaker on the subject of entrepreneurship based economic development and author of the Grow Your Own Guide, a short primer on how to build urban and rural economies using entrepreneurship. will be speaking about his experiences with entrepreneur based economic development in rural settings and grassroots economic development projects. He will give tips about strategies he has seen work and why those are uniquely suited for small towns.
